The Aardvark JSFU can be adapted to clear airfield runways and hard surfaces by attaching track pads to the tracks, or by changing the tracks for wheels.
In addition a modified blade and support wheels are attached to the blast plate. This ensures that the rotating chains just skim, but do not damage, the hard surface.
Air superiority is a key factor in modern warfare. In order to achieve this, attacks against enemy airfields using cratering bombs and area denial munitions will be one of the first priorities in a battle plan. Likewise to maintain air superiority, the rapid re-opening of damaged runways will be essential.
.The Aardvark JSFU, in the wheeled mode, is particularly suitable for providing a fast, safe and efficient method of clearing scatterable munitions from airfields and runways. Having cleared safe routes to damaged areas, the JSFU can clear runways while the damaged areas are being repaired, thus allowing airfields to re-open in the minimum possible time.
