Comprises a 160hp 6 cylinder in-line turbo charged diesel engine to drive the vehicle and the three speed power take off (PTO) for the flail. The integrally mounted gear box, differential, final drive, PTO and hydraulics, all housed in a fully protected compartment incorporating armoured belly plate with strengthened chassis assembly. The belly plate has a similar angled profile as the cab thereby minimising the effect of blast forces. The fuel tank is situated above the hydraulics and has a capacity of 200 litres. Forward and reverse drive for cross country is normally through half tracks on a mid vehicle differential transmission.
Large solid fill tyres can be fitted in lieu of the tracks for airfield, runway, or level surface clearance, and for medium distance road transit.
A synchromesh transmission with 4 ranges of gearing options gives 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds, plus creep options in all ranges. In the tracked version the machine can operate on inclinations of 34% (1 in 3). Hydrostatic steering is achieved through the front axle, with independent track steering on the rear axle. Braking is provided through hydraulically operated front and rear brakes, with an air operated failsafe parking brake.
