The Aardvark flail has proven extremely useful in post conflict clearance. It has been involved in operations for the United Nations and has operated in commercial clearance jobs in various countries around the world. Aardvark machines have recently been used by the British, Canadian and French forces in Bosnia, by humanitarian mine clearance agencies in Angola and Mozambique, and for a millennium mine clearance project in the Jordan Valley. Following a worldwide bid and trials, the Mk4 was chosen as the preferred vehicle to clear landmines in the demilitarised zone between North and South Korea. It is also being

About
Aardvark Clear Mine Ltd. is a private British company based in Scotland, and since 1982 has been designing and producing a variety of mechanical minefield clearance machines.
The Aardvark machine was developed from a simple but effective rotating chain flail principle, first used during World War II when the mine menace had become a very serious problem.
To-day’s Mk4 vehicle was designed using modern technology and materials, and is the product of years of experience. These improvements affect engine performance, flail depth, flail control and contouring, steering, driver safety, driver comfort, navigation, and maintenance, all of which make it the most effective landmine clearing system in the world, clearing not only mines of all known types whether buried or surface laid, but also vegetation, trip wires and booby traps.
The many years wealth of experience built up by Aardvark is unique. The Managing Director, David Sadler, has overseen all the designs, prototypes, trials from conception to today’s world leading vehicle. He is backed up by Design Engineers using the most up-to-date CAD programmes, and ex-military minefield technicians and mechanical engineers to carry out the trials, training and maintenance of the units. Aardvark maintains a policy of continued improvements with the total safety of the crew as paramount. In all our years no crew member has been injured or killed, and with the air conditioned crew cab at one end of the unit and the mechanical flail at the other, the maximum safety distance between mine and man is achieved.
